Stanislaw Zoladz was born in 1952 in Poland, and studied atKraków Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1978 he has lived and worked in Sweden, becoming a truly top class exponent of water colour. If Stanislaw's paintings have one thing in common, it is hisimpression of light. In the summer, he often paints the point at which vegetation gives way to bare rocks at the water's edge, in Stockholm's archipelago. Nature is a predominant theme in hisworks of art, but quite often an abandoned tractor, or a red cottage on the horizon, reminds us of a human presence. Every year,Stanislaw travels widely to paint. Places where he has found inspiration include Italy, Gambia, The West Indies, The Lofoten Islands, Morocco, Spain, Åland and Finland. While new places can be inspiring, so can much loved older ones, known like the back of your hand. Stanislaw returns again and again to Simpnäs and Arholma in the Roslagen Archipelago, near Stockholm. There, hepaints the same scenes over and over again, each time finding different light and weather.
